Grace in the Community

At Grace we believe Jesus’ ministry is about reaching out to our world in service and invitation.

We encourage and nurture a  relationship with Aboriginal peoples, we support Terra, who offers support for pregnant teens, we offer space for 12 – step groups just to name a few.

We provide open hearts and open arms to all who walk through our door at Grace United Church.

Some other programs we offer include:

Bissell Centre

We are connected with various community service groups. The Bissell Centre is a United Church mission in service to the less fortunate members of our city.

Operation Friendship

We offer a soup/stew meal four times a year for those less fortunate.  10 pails of stew is lovingly prepared in the months of Feb, Arp, Oct and Dec.  This service is provided through the Operation Friendship Seniors Society. Last year they were able to provide around 90,000 free meals to their seniors.

Blankets for Canada

Many caring hands spend time knitting 8-inch acrylic squares and sewing the squares together in an ongoing, loving program.  These blankets provide warmth for families throughout Canada. Many more loving hands are welcome. Call the office at 466-0916 if you are interested in helping.  Blankets for Canada

Bridge Club

Grace Church Bridge Club is still very active as we enter our 14th year.  We play each Monday from 1:00-3:00 throughout the year.  Cost is $1/person.  Players come from the entire community and we welcome new players.  For more information call the church office at 466-0916.

Cycling Mommas

Cycling Mommas was started more than 30 years ago as an opportunity for moms to get some exercise, explore the river valley and get to know their neighbours.

We cycle twice a week in spring and fall, on Tuesday and Thursday mornings from 9:30 – 10:30 am, followed by time for coffee. We leave from the parking lot at Grace United Church and do most of our riding on the paved river valley trails. Quality childcare is offered using a combination of paid help and “helper moms” to keep costs down.

Coffee Time

Come and join us for coffee every Tuesday Morning at 10:00. Bring a friend and a smile. You don't have to be a member of the church, you just have to want a good conversation.

Bible Camp

Every year, Grace offers a wonderful two-day camp for elementary-aged children during 'Teacher's Convention'.  The themes of companionship, courage and creation are explored using the positive themes found in the "Lord of the Rings" stories.  The children enjoy cooperative games, crafts, baking, snacks, drama and outdoor adventure.  This popular camp is open to any children who wish to come and the cost is only $40 each.  Every year is a blast!
