Grace United Church's services are open to everyone.
They are informal, so please feel free to dress comfortably.
They are often spontaneous, so please feel free to smile, laugh, cry and enjoy.
Occasionally you may find yourself entertained by a drama group, so bring your imagination.
Our music is a wonderful combination of traditional and contemporary,
so please feel free to
sing, tap, dance or just listen and reflect.
Please join us every Sunday at 10:00 a.m.

Grace United Church offers a blended style of worship each Sunday at 10:00, with diverse
music expressions and something for all ages; Church School for ages 3—grade 12 is held at
the same time, with infant/toddler care also offered. Children begin in the sanctuary for
worship, and then go to their classes for education after the Children’s Time. They are
also welcome to remain in worship.
Baptism
Baptism is one of two sacraments the United Church of Canada recognizes. (The other is
communion.) A sacrament is a visible sign of God’s love for us. Baptism is not something
we must do in order to convince God to give us salvation. It is what we do because we
already know God’s salvation. It is not a spiritual vaccination against evil. We are
baptized into Christ because of the good news that we belong to God. Together we respond
to God’s love through our gifts and our service. Through baptism we become members of the
Christian Church.
During baptism, vows are made by the parent(s), guardian(s) or baptismal candidate. The parent(s), guardian(s) or candidate proclaim their belief in God, Jesus Christ and the Holy Spirit. They promise to show their belief through words and actions, following in the way of Jesus. The congregation sponsors each candidate and also makes vows at each baptism. The congregation promises to support the parent(s), guardian(s) and candidate, and live with them in faith and love. An ongoing relationship is encouraged. These congregational vows are taken just as seriously as the vows made by the parent(s), guardian(s) or candidate. Baptism is the sacrament of “joining the universal church.” Persons of any age are invited for baptism because the Church is a great family that welcomes people of all ages. Communion
Did you know that here at Grace we celebrate an open Communion? Open Communion means that
all are welcome at the table, from the smallest child to founding member to the first time
visitor. If you want to take Communion, you are welcome at the table.
The Worship Committee tries to make sure that everyone can be included. That is why we offer grape juice instead of wine. That is why on Communion Sundays you will see one person moving through the church offering Communion to those who have difficulty coming to the front. If you have mobility issues or small children, we will be happy to bring Communion to you. If you have allergies, or are celiac you are welcome to come to the allergy station located at the front of the church just to the right of the servers. There you will find rice cakes and soda crackers, along with the grape juice. If you have health concerns that make it difficult for you to take Communion, please speak to a member of the Worship Committee. We would be happy to work with you to find a way to include you. |
